Question #158

How many characters can theoretically be encoded with Unicode?

1,111,998 can theoretically be mapped with Unicode. That is 17 planes × 65,536 characters per plane - 2048 surrogates - 66 noncharacters = 1,111,998 code points. That being said, only 143,859 characters are implemented in Unicode 13.0.0. (unicode.org/versions/Unicode13.0.0)
